KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on several highways in the Klang Valley were at a standstill due to flash floods following a heavy downpour earlier today.

A spokesperson of Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) revealed that New Pantai Expressway, Federal Highway, Bangsar, Subang Jaya, Old Klang Road and Bangsar were the most severely affected by the rain which started at about 3pm.

“The wet conditions forced the traffic to move slowly from Sri Petaling to the Middle Ring Road 2 on the Kesas Highway. A similar situation was reported from Grand Saga Highway toll plaza heading to Plaza Phoenix and the Sunway Toll plaza to the Federal Highway on the Puchong Damansara Highway.

“Traffic is getting better since the floods have subsided a little,” he said.

The spokesperson added that from PJS2 to Maju Jaya and in Taman Medan were slow also slow moving.

“The situation in Old Klang Road is also under control as the excess water that flooded some areas have been pumped into neighbouring drains,” he said.

Meanwhile, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) were forced to bring its services to a halt.

Through its official Twitter account, @ktmkomuter, tweeted that train services in the Klang Valley would make the last stop at the Setia Jaya station. However, KTMB resumed its services back at 5.41pm.
